The Swan Nursery School




Our Staff
Children attending the Nursery will be in the care of highly qualified and experienced staff. All the Nursery School Assistants hold BTEC or equivalent qualifications and our lunchtime assistants all hold the Basic Learning through Play Certificate. The majority of our team have been at the Swan for over 4 years and this provides a very stable and caring nursery environment. MICHELLE BOWGEN - PROPRIETOR Michelle took over the Nursery School in Sept 2002. She has recently gained her Diploma in Pre-school Practise which is a level 3 qualiification. She has undertaken many courses during the last 3 years including First Aid, Child Protection, Working in Partnership with Parents, Arts and Drama and Special Needs. During the Summer of 2005 Michelle qualified as a Level 1 Football Coach and plans to offer 'Mini-Soccer' skills to Nursery outdoor activities. Michelle has two children aged 9 and 7 who both attended the Swan Nursery School. ELIZABETH THACKER - MANAGER Elizabeth gained her BTEC National Diploma in Nursery Nursing in 1993 and originally worked at a Nursery in Norfolk caring for young Babies. She joined us in October 2000 and has undertaken various training which include; - dealing with Language & Speech difficulties, Autism and Autistic Spectrum Disorders and Managing Children's Behaviour. MARGARET HARROLD- NURSERY ASSISTANT Margaret holds a Certificate in Early Year Care & Education - Level 3 and has been at the Nursery since June 1995. Her daughter was one of the first children to attend the Nursery when it opened in 1990. Margaret regularly attends 'workshops' and recently took part in a 'Learning through Music' day. KAREN HARRIS- NURSERY ASSISTANT Karen joined the Nursery in Sept. 2006. She holds an NNEB Level 3 Certificate and also Tutors for 'Childminding Matters' She has two children and has many years of experience working in Day Care and Childminding. Karen holds a curent First Aid and Child Protection certificate. ELIZABETH PEARCEY - NURSERY ASSISTANT Liz joined the Nursery in March 2003. She gained her NNEB Diploma in 1998 and has lots of experience working with young children having first worked as a Nanny and then in a Day Care Nursery. Liz holds a current First Aid Certificate and regularly updates her training. JEN CALLIN Jen joined the Nursery in Sept. 2005 and is currently on maternity leave. She really loves working with young children having been a Nanny during 2004. She has recently completed her level 3 qualification at Norwich City College. RUTH GREEN- LUNCHTIME ASSISTANT Ruth joined the Nursery in Sept 2006 and is currently studying for her NVQ2 in Child care and Development. CLARE PEGG - LUNCHTIME ASSISTANT Clare has recently joined the Nursery and is a registered First Aider.
